The Cattlewomen for the Cure is a volunteer, non-profit organization that hosts an annual women’s only golf tournament each year in August. Started in 2006, the intent of the tournament was to bring together ladies involved in the Canadian beef industry to generate donations for a charity as well as to network.

The golf tournament reported another tremendous fundraising effort again this year, raising $49,000 for the Rondald McDonald House, the group’s 2011 charity choice.  The Cattlewomen for the Cure also donated $1500 to local foodbanks as part of the tournament prizes.

Each year, the Cattlewomen for the Cure committee choose a charity to donate all proceeds from the tournament. Since the inaugural tournament, with the generous support of our sponsors and golfers, the Cattlewomen for the Cure have raised over $250,000 for Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Heart & Stroke, and MS and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

The tournament consists of 18 holes, steak dinner, entertainment, and silent auction. Golfers can register as individuals or as a team with past tournaments consisting of participants from all four western provinces. Registration fills up quickly, so golfers are encouraged to send in registration with payment as soon as registration opens on May 1, 2012.
